Instructional Non-Negotiables 2017-2022
Leadership
Everyone will support student success for college and career readiness
Every child will have a relationship with at least one adult in the school who supports that child’s educational
experience.
Professional learning will be of excellent quality and individualized when appropriate for all teachers and support
staff.
We will teach the whole child. Social and emotional learning as well as behavior management and cooperation
are as important as academics.
A district RTI plan will outline a framework of interventions that will serve as a resource for all school
intervention teams.
Class and course scheduling will be developed based on what is best for students.
Instruction- teacher
Clarify (in language understood by the student) and share learning intentions and criteria for success
Engineer effective classroom discussions, and learning tasks
Provide feedback that moves the learner forward
Activate students as the owners of their own learning
Activate students as instructional resources for one another
Differentiate instruction based on data
Instruction-student
Students will apply, work collaboratively, self-reflect and utilize critical thinking skills
Students will become responsible autonomous learners
Assessments/Data
Data will be used to individualize and monitor instruction
Goals and outcomes will be monitored via data conferences with principals and instructional staff throughout the
school year
Student work will be examined and used as a tool for monitoring, collaboration, and instructional improvement
Technology
Technology will be utilized as both a learning tool and as a resource and is embedded in daily teaching and
learning
Researched based instructional software will be used by students according to school and district guidelines.
