Boeing South Carolina, BMW Manufacturing Co., and the South
Carolina Manufacturers Alliance will host the second annual SC
STEM Signing Day. Cole Quinn, Daniel Morgan Technology
Center Mechatronics Integrated Technologies completer has
been selected for this honor. The purpose for this event is to
recognize seniors throughout the state for their commitment and
achievements in STEM education. Two students from each
county were selected for this opportunity. Cole is currently
working on his degree at Spartanburg Community College in
Mechatronics while working as a youth apprentice at Benteler
Automotive, and will graduate from Broome High School in May.
Cole will be recognized at the Education and Business Summit in
June as a CATE Technology Champion and receive a cash prize
with this honor.
Congratulations to Daniel Morgan Technology
Center student Ashton Threatt who received a
scholarship in the amount of $3000 to attend
Universal Technical Institute, a nationwide
provider of technical education training for
students seeking careers in entry level
automotive, diesel, collision repair, motorcycle,
and marine technicians. Ashton is a completer
in the Automotive Technology Program and is
currently participating in a DMTC work-based
learning experience at Spartan Fire and
Emergency Apparatus.
Peyton Greene recently used the
skills he learned in his Welding I
class, at Daniel Morgan
Technology Center, to make a
beautiful boot rack out of horse
shoes. He used the shielded
metal arc welding process to weld
them together
