Board Meeting Update

        District News   Cowpens  Middle  School  students  who

           Student Recognitions



            had art work on display wre recognized.

            Price,  Mattie  Reid,  Noemi  Reynoso,
            Amanda             Rodriguez,           Brianna
            Shimanskiy,  Savannah  Smith,  Faith
            Smith,  Victoria  Smith,  Breann  Thao,  Avery  Vance,  and  Anna  Yue.    Five  of  these
            students, Alan Garcia, Mattie Reid, Victoria Smith, Breann Thao and Anna Yue also
            had their artwork featured at the Chapman Cultural Center during Youth Art Month.


                                    Spartanburg School District Three had three students recognized
                                    at the 2018 Piedmont Region III Science Fair.  Jesse McCullough
                                    at  Clifdale  Elementary  School  earned  an  Honorable  Mention  in
                                    Physics  for  his  project,  Make  the  Wind  Work  for  You!  Cannons
                                    Elementary School student, Layla Earnhardt earned an honorable
                                    mention  in  Behavioral  Science  for  her  project,  Does  Twice  as
                                    Much  Money  Last  Twice  as  Long?    Joszaleigh  Gibson,  a
                                    Cowpens Elementary School student, won the National Audubon
                                    Society  Award  for  her  project,  Why  do  Pinecones  Open  and
                                    Close?


      Each year Duke University holds a 4th – 6th
      grade  talent  search  through  their  Duke
      Talent  Identification  Program  (TIP).    Duke
      TIP  scholars  achieve  in  the  top  5%  of  their
      grade  level.    The  program  recognizes  the
      accomplishments  of  these  students  and
      offers a wide variety of online curriculum and
      resources for the student.  This year’s Duke
      TIP  Scholars  from  Cowpens  Elementary
      School are: Bailey Barron, Mercadies Davis,
      Amajai  Martin,  Raeleigh  McArn,  Andrew
      Sturgill, and Kera Wallace.


      Broome  High  School's  Model  Arab  League  Delegation  Competed  at  the  Southeast
      Regional Model Arab League Conference March 16-18th at Converse College. Students
      competed  in  intercollegiate  and  high  school  debate  with  other  delegations  across  the
      Southeast.   Broome High School won overall Outstanding High School Delegation with
      individual delegation awards in the following:  Outstanding Delegate in Heads of State -
      Erin Quinn; Outstanding Delegation in Political Affairs - Hannah Norton and Emily Davis;
