Grade of Record Calculations
Students generate a final grade per semester. If they earn a passing grade, these students earn a credit
per semester for each credit earning class in which they are enrolled. In courses associated with
EOCs, EOCs are 30% of a final grade.

         GUEST SPEAKERS

All guest speakers must be approved by administration. The instructor must complete a
Request for Guest Speaker form and submit to administration in advance of making arrangements
with the guest speaker. Guest Speakers must sign in at the front office and may never be left
               unaccompanied on campus.

         HALL PASS

At SASL grades K-2, students excused from class must have an individualized hall pass signed by the
instructor indicating the time of departure and destination. Grades 3-5, students excused from class
must have their Agenda, which serves as their hall pass, signed by the instructor indicating the time of
departure and destination. All instructors need to have a sign out board near their door for students to
sign their names and departure/arrival time on when exiting or entering a room. No child is ever to be
out of class without a hall pass signed by the instructor excusing him/her from class to go locations
other than the restrooms (see - RESTROOM PASS). If a student is sent to see another instructor, the
other instructor needs to record the new time student leaves them and also sign the hall pass.

         HOME LEARNING POLICY
Purposeful independent reinforcement through home learning is an essential component of the
instructional process. Do not assign homework for the sake of homework. Students should have
independent reinforcement/home learning assignments on a regular basis, if needed. Evidence of
independent reinforcement/home learning assignments should be reflected in lesson plans.
Independent reinforcement/home learning assignments should be checked off and recorded in the
grade book. Instructors should expect every child to complete his/her independent
reinforcement/home learning assignments by the designated time. Independent reinforcement/home
learning assignments should reinforce and/or enhance concepts and learning that take place in class.
They should be challenging and involve higher level thinking (critical thinking) in all or part of the
assignment. Reading is recognized as a universal skill that relates to all subjects. Therefore, reading
assignments should be part of the independent reinforcement/home learning process. Any home
learning assignments should be posted on the teacher’s webpage.
