ETHICS
SCPA/SASL instructors are expected to comply with The Code of Ethics and the Principles of
Professional Conduct of the Education Profession in Florida. Failure to comply may result in
disciplinary action or termination.
EVALUATIONS
All instructors of SCPA will be evaluated regularly utilizing the Florida Consortium of Charter Schools
Teacher Evaluation tool, which is a state approved tool. It is imperative that instructors become
familiar with this instrument.
FAILURE NOTICES (UNSATISFACTORY PROGRESS REPORTS)
Parents/guardians of all students should be notified at any time during a grading period when it is
apparent that the student may fail the course or is doing unsatisfactory work. If a student’s grade falls
below a 70 %, a formal Unsatisfactory Progress Report must be sent home immediately via school
email only. It is understood that there are cases when a student stops work entirely or is excessively
absent. Parents/guardians should be informed immediately of pending failure and the contact should
be recorded in the contact log. This will be closely monitored by the guidance department. Also see
the PROGRESS REPORT section. It is the responsibility of the instructor to request a parent-teacher
th
th
conference if a student is in danger of failing a course. Failure notices for 8 and 12 grade students
are to be communicated with guidance as well.
FIELD TRIPS
Trips for students which have value in meeting educational objectives, are directly related to the
curriculum, or are necessary to the fulfillment of obligations to the interscholastic athletic and activity
program are permitted by administration’s approval. The Field Trip Packet must be used for any
such trips.
