Inpatient Overview - Volumes & Referral

            Patterns

     • Respirology volumes have decreased
by 5% in Ontario; volumes at SJHC

have decreased ~6x more than SMH

     • SMH makes up 5% of Ontario market
share while SJHC makes up 4%

     • As a proportion of inpatient volumes,
respirology makes up 2% of SMH and
          SJHC activity

     • This service includes primarily urgent
          admissions. SJHC has 100% urgent
admissions; SMH has 81% urgent and
          19% elective admissions.

    • Top volumes are derived from TC LHIN patients followed by Mississauga-Halton for SJHC and Central
          and Central East for SMH

    • The majority (~60%) of patients are discharged home without support services. SMH has 2% of patients
being discharged to a Continuing Care facility*; SJHC has 6%. Providence is referred a minimal number
          of patients (<1% of transfers).
