What is Our Inpatient & Day Surgery Case Mix

Inpatient (HIG):

• The top HIG by volume in the
respirology service at SMH is for
cystic fibrosis (HIG #432); there
is no activity in this HIG at SJHC

• Top HIGs at SJHC include
pneumonia, COPD and asthma;
at SMH some of these volumes
fall under the respirology service
but the majority fall into internal
medicine service

Day Surgery (ON CACS):

• The majority of both site’s coded
outpatient activity is respiratory
biopsy/endoscopy (~5x more
activity at SMH)
