Pivot Towards to the New Normal

he signature name for our fashion design business, Gecko Rose, signifies
adaptability, strength, and the power to regenerate and pivot. We were
put to the challenge last year when we acquired a business space to open
T a storefront boutique as well as a manufacturing studio to do custom
orders.
A week before COVID sent everyone home to quarantine, we were all set to
move into our new location, and while we ultimately were unable to open our
physical store, we still had to meet our clientele’s daily needs! This meant we had
to adapt, pivot, and think up innovative ways to provide service, commitment,
and quality.
Our team went back to the fashion drawing board with the goal of
determining what it was that our ladies needed as many of them shifted to
working from home and learning online. To begin with, we designed and
produced fashionable scarf masks and big hair scrunchies that allowed
women to be safe without compromising their fashion sense.
Next, the team shifted the focus of our clothing designs to comfort
and sustainability while still “owning that business look” since many of
our customers wanted to feel professional while working from home
yet also feel comfortable. We discovered the most amazing, cozy, and
versatile materials, such as all-natural cotton jersey knits and bamboo
cotton. We’ve even discovered the wonders of chiffon for kimonos!
These products are all locally made because we believe in
supporting local business, and they can all be adjusted because
we also believe in keeping our clientele comfortable while they
work from home.

As we adapt to what we now call the new normal, Gecko
Rose has created a stronger online presence instead of opening
a physical storefront. At least for now! Our business is based
on our clientele’s personal experience with us and with our
products. We know this because word of mouth has spread
that we meet our clientele’s needs whether for custom orders
made from design patters in various styles, sizes, and colors
or whether for ready to wear clothing altered to ensure the
best fit for each unique body we clothe. Ultimately, our
goal is to always do the best job we can no matter what the
project is because quality is our secret ingredient.
When our customers are happy, we are happy. It’s
