privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord
that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of
whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And through
covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise
of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and
their damnation slumbereth not.
The Law is good and holy but it was not designed for salvation
or blessings. It is the revealer of sin.
Romans 7:7-8, What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God
forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not
known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. But
sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all
manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.
When the Law is used to reveal sin it becomes like a dam on a
stream, the sin begins to rise against the dam and is magnified.
The waters of sin only become a lake of hopelessness. We have
a new and better way to deal with sin by the Spirit that lives in
us. First we must repent, then the Spirit of Grace pulls the drain
plug on sin, and it drains away into the sea of forgetfulness. The
blood of Jesus is that payment for sin, not repentance.
Repentance is obedience to what God requires. When we are
willing and obedient, then we shall eat the good of the land.
Abraham was obedient to God’s word to sacrifice his son Isaac,
but by faith believed God would provide a sacrifice.
