goes on to say that Jesus is God’s authority made into flesh and
walked among us. John 17:1-2 these words spake Jesus, and
lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come;
glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: As thou hast
given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to
as many as thou hast given him. We see the picture of Jesus in
our minds as God’s word and authority. Jesus spoke in
metaphors or parables to give a picture of what he was saying
but the people were blind to the meaning of his sayings. Their
education and development of a modern alphabet and legalistic
view of life had destroyed the metaphorical understanding of
their minds. My grandfather used to say, “They have book
sense, but no common sense”. Native Americans use metaphors
for every part of life and communication. Their names are to
represent the personality and life of the individual. Names of
people sometimes changed throughout their life as they did
important acts of courage or shame. As a child they might be
known as little Tree but after they are grown be called Strong
Tree. They might say that a person spoke with the tongue of a
snake. If you did not know their understanding of this metaphor
you might think they meant with deep understanding of things
since a snake feels with his tongue. They had no idea a snake
feels with his tongue. They knew a snakes tongue is forked and
speaks double talk, says one thing and means another. If you do
not know the meaning of the metaphors God is using, you
cannot know what he is saying. So there is also divine revelation
