Reverse applications
When design considerations call for a reverse application of the Corporate Image, it is not permissible to use a conventional reverse application. When used against any background other than white, the image must have a white relief surrounding the symbol. This would apply to both four colour and single colour situations. The surrounding white relief is the same dimension as the interior space of the symbol (see example). Because of the added dimensions of the surrounding rule, the logotype will be modified to accommodate the expanded dimensions (see example). The image should not be ghosted as this could impact the visual clarity of the symbol, especially the graded halftone within the Leaf portion of the symbol. In reverse applications, the logotype may appear in black or reverse white depending on the intensity of the background colour.
Accurate reverse configurations are available from Region of Waterloo’s Corporate Publishing in both hard copy and electronic versions in both Mac and PC platforms, therefore, no manipulation or resetting is required. Please request logos from the “Regional Logo Request” form on the portal.
* Note: Do not attempt to recreate the logo with the white relief. Please contact Corporate Publishing.
The logo and logotype are not to be condensed or elongated under any circumstance.

Special Use – Graphic
In very specific circumstances where size, cost and design considerations make the use of the four colour and one colour logos impractical, these versions of the symbol may be used. Note that the halftone graded screen has been eliminated for this use and the ’vein’ graphic is positive. This use will be primarily for specialty items such as recognition pins and other promotional items where a gradient cannot be used in a the printing process. Such use must be approved by the Director of Corporate Communications.
