Y5 Summer Term Part 1. CW Lesson 1

            5.  Write some words on the board, e.g. man, lady, child, monkey, donkey for the children

                to suggest sentences with prepositional phrases in them.

            6.  Explain that not all phrases are prepositional phrases.


                E.g.  The boy wore his brightly coloured football kit.
                       Once, in the dry and dusty desert, there lived a Bedouin with four children.
                       Noah, the faithful man, built an ark.


            7.  Let the children identify phrases in their reading books and / or let them complete
                the worksheet.

            1.  The children should be able to recognise and use phrases in their writing.

            2.  They should know that phrases do not contain verbs but add information to a

                sentence.

            3.  They will see that not all phrases are prepositional phrases.
