Review teaching on homophones, synonyms and antonyms.
Review teaching on there, they’re and their
Way to Work (Means)
1. Review previous lessons.
2. Show the children a mobile phone and ask them if they remember what we mean by
homophones. SSDMAS = same sound, different meaning and spelling
SSDMASS
3. Talk about when to use there, they’re and their. Talk about the use of to, too and
two.
4. Review synonyms which are words with similar meanings (‘s’ for similar; ‘s’ for
synonyms). e.g. tiny – small; loud – noisy; monotonous – boring
5. Review antonyms (anti=against) reminding the children of Anti-Christ meaning against
Christ. Antonyms are opposite words, e.g. tall - short; wide – narrow.
6. Give the children the worksheet to move around the room with a pencil and paper to
find the missing homophones, synonyms and antonyms (see separate sheet).
