Talk about the ways in which a story can be made into a play. Remind the children of
the use of speech marks for direct speech. Show them how plays are often written
without the need for speech marks. Emphasise the need for other punctuation signs.

Write a story as a play with the children. E.g.

Ruler: Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?
Jesus: Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only One who is good.
If you want to enter life, obey the commandments.

            Ruler: Which ones?

Give the children a short story to change into a play, adding conversation of their
            own.
