                 "I know. The shelters all have waiting lists." He continues, "two of the shelters
           said they cater to women with children." He simpers, takes a step and reaches for the
           door but waits out of politeness.


                 "Oh, boy," she mumbles while her forehead wrinkles.

                 Alonzo  continues, “another  said I'm  ineligible  because I made  too much
           money last year." He glares at her, “can you imagine that?”


                 The Brunette appears in awe but utters no other word.

                 "Caught in a catch 22," gazing at the Brunette's expression of awe.


                 The Brunette breaks her silence with a chuckle, "you mean, caught between a
           rock and a hard place."


                 "Funny you should say that," with a smirk.

                 "Why is that?" she inquires with a profound degree of curiosity.


                 "Sorry, I've got to go before I lose my favorite spot ..." But in a nanosecond, he
           remembers the Lincoln note and coins from the convenience Store. He reaches for
           his left pocket, pulls the coins and folded bill, and hands them to the Brunette. "... For

           your girls. Good night and be safe," and reaches for the door.

                 "Thank you, Mister" her eyes light up.

                 "The name's A-L-O-N-Z-O, Ma'am ... Take good care of your girls," he climbs

           onto his Jeep. He closes his door, glares around the lot, and cranks the ignition. The
