“Okay, thank you.”
“Two for Four Croissan’Wich to go!” another male Crew Member calls out.
“Over here,” stepping forward.
“Here you are, Sir” handing Alonzo a paper bag. “Enjoy your breakfast.”
“Thank you …” taking the paper bag Alonzo makes his exit.
A few minutes later -- following his smartphone GPS -- Alonzo arrives a motel
southwest of Hartsfield-Jackson International.
Unenthusiastic SHEILA, 40’s, and wearing a simple cotton dress, opens the
right rear passenger door; then encourages her little girl to get in. She hurries, but
calmly, “her school's address should be in your App.”
But the Little Girl interrupts innocently. “Momma ... Will you have my birthday
cake when I get home?”
“Yes, baby. But I need you to be good. Momma loves you.” She continues, “be
good, and sit like a good girl.” She closes the door -- waving at the Little Girl with her
left hand and walks away toward the hotel entrance.
Speechless -- Alonzo barely utters a word -- but ponders how a mother could
leave her child with a total stranger.
However, barely a couple of minutes into the ride, the Little Girl breaks the
silence. “Wow! This is a nice car,” look of approval.
