18:03 HOURS -- The ambulance pulls up at the emergency dock -- a couple of minutes,
off its transmitted ETA. Immediately, the two male medics rush out of the ambulance;
one opens and holds the rear door, and the other reaches and wheels the strapped
Biker out. They steady the stretcher while the Lead Medic walks into the hospital.
Moments later, the medics wheel the stretcher-strapped Biker into the ER.
The ER PHYSICIAN, 41, African-American father of two, and wearing a blue scrub is
at the head of the ER bed. Hurriedly, his team members assemble around the
strapped Biker.
In short order, the Lead Medic shoots her medical report. "We have a twenty-
eight-year-old male ..."
The Biker manages, with difficulty, to glare as he listens to the Lead Medic
give her report.
"... Involved in a quarter-panel impact with an SUV," the Lead Medic continues.
"No known allergies. No noteworthy medical history."
The Biker whimpers as he listens to the Lead Medic convey sophisticated
emergency care history on his behalf.
"He complains of pain, seven out of ten, in his neck," the Lead Medic reports.
"He has feelings and movement in his lower extremities,” she continues, “he's yet to
receive pain meds." Although the Biker's cracked helmet pinched and scratched his
neck, it saved his life. Helpless -- the Biker eases up -- knowing that the medics and
ER crew are well equipped to take good care of him.
Later, Alonzo makes it home. He steps out and manages to open the rear door.
