                 Use, Occupancy, and Construction






               Classification Group M—Mercantile
               Group M structures or portions of structures are used for the display, sale, and
               stocking of goods, wares, and merchandise, including but not limited to:
                               Department stores

                               Drug stores
                               Markets
                               Motor fuel-dispensing facilities

                               Retail or wholesale stores
                               Sales rooms


               (2014 Florida Building Code, Section 309)

               Classification Group R—Residential
               Residential or Group R Structures that are designated for sleeping and do not fall
               under the Institution (Group I) classification or when not regulated by the Florida

               Building Code, Residential; there are four subgroups.

                       R-1 – Buildings containing sleeping units where the occupants are primarily
                       transient in nature. This would consist of:


                               Boarding houses (transient) with more than 10 occupants
                               Congregate living facilities (transient) with more than 10 occupants
                               Hotels (transient)

                               Motels (transient)

                       R-2 – Residential occupancies with multiple (more than two) dwelling units in
                       which the occupants are permanent. This includes:


                                      Apartment houses
                                      Boarding houses (non-transient) with more than 16 occupants
