Final opponents of the day was Taunton league and we were all playing at the same time
in two different halls, we all knew 3 wins would be enough to clinch victory. Pairs 1 Lee Toleman
& Bronagh Malone won 10 -6 giving them 3 out of four overall. Pairs 2 was Eric & Caroline
Pavey who won 9 -6 giving them 3 out four. Triples 1 was Andy Thompson, David Kay & Roy
Vincent, they won 13 -5 giving them 4 out 4 overall.
Triples 2 was Ken Spiller, Brab Hallowes & David Tarr who won 9 -8 giving them 3 out of
four. Fours 1 was Richard Watson, Chris Young, Robert Bartlett & David Haylor, after a close
game lost 8 -10 giving them a total of 2 out of four. Fours 2 was Carol Osbourne, Jane Kay,
Geoff Stone & Peter Sydenham who won 14 -5 giving them 2 out of four overall. So after final
games wining 5 out of 6 six mats and a total of 34 points, nearest rival was current holders
Blackmore Vale with 28 points. This is a very high standard tournament with County players
from Somerset, Dorset and the 6 from Devon. So very well done to East Devon League on a
fantastic result.

IS ROMANCE DEAD?
IS ROMANCE DEAD?
A middle-aged couple had finally learned how to send and receive texts
on their cell phones. The wife, being a romantic at heart, decided one day
that she'd send her husband a text while she was out of the house having
coffee with a friend.
She texted: If you are sleeping, send me your dreams. If you are
laughing, send me your smile. If you are eating, send me a bite. If you are drinking, send me
a sip. If you are crying, send me your tears. I love you. The husband, being a no-nonsense
sort of guy, texted back: I'm on the toilet. Please advise.
