THE MARY KENT TRIPLES
THE MARY KENT TRIPLES
Named after the wife of former England player
Roy Kent, the Mary Kent Triples is hotly con-
tested every year.
After previously dispatching their semi-
final opponents, Beaford and Yarnscombe
met in the final and gave and absolute cracker
of a match.
Yarnscombe’s Graham James, Alan
Flood & Jay Shaw seemed to be on their way
to victory, playing well and leading 7 - 1 after
six of the eighteen ends but slowly and surely
Gordon Denham, Eleanor & Francis Hawkey
clawed their way back into the match and lev-
elled the scores at 10 all after 14 ends.
A couple of singles put Yarnscombe
back in front but was answered by two singles
for Beaford, thus once again levelling the
match after the regulation eighteen ends but
Seated Champions Graham James, in mounting excitement, it was Yarnscombe
Alan Flood and Jay Shaw with finalists who managed the winning shots on the sud-
Francis & Eleanor Hawkey and den death extra end. An exciting finish to a
Gordon Denham very hard fought match.
