10 The damage for Donegal was really done on mat 2 in the first half when the rink
skipped by D Hegarty never got into the game against the stand-in Armagh skip V
Fowler picking up only 1 shot in losing 17 - 1. M Brogan on mat 1 somewhat compen-
sated with an 11 - 5 win over R Cassels while on mat 3 just 1 shot gave Armagh's E Smyth
a 9 - 8 win over Donegal's K Duggan.
Armagh led 31 - 20 at the interval. The second half looked good for Donegal on mat
3 with the usually dominant Pauline Beattie in trouble throughout her game finishing 19
- 8 down against V Patterson. Unfortunately, on mat 1 L Richardson's rink were dominant
over R McDonnell's Donegal rink finishing 15 - 6 up. The other game saw I Douglas and
P Friel finish 7 - 7. it was an exciting final despite 2 heavy defeats for both sides with only
3 shots separating the team’s mid-way through the second half.
