NATIONAL QUALIFIERS

Finals night of the Mid Ulster section of the National
Championships was dominated, not surprisingly, by
Cookstown High and Cookstown Parochial. Alan Paul
and Mark Wilson of the High qualified for four finals while Parochial's Damian McElroy qualified
in three finals. In the ladies championships, Maghera Pres's Shiela Anderson qualified in three
competitions. In the rinks final, Alan Paul. Mark Wilson, Dayne Jordan and Glen Smith Cook-
stown High edged out Damian McElroy, Aaron Ward, Johnnie Donnell and Daniel Davidson
10 - 5.
Moortown's Tommy Quinn and John Joe O'Neill were too strong for Rod Foster and Willie
Evans winning 9 - 3 in the over 55's. The junior singles was won by Daniel Clarke with an 8 -
3 win over Andrew Evans while Evans and Clarke won the junior pairs winning 10 - 3 over
Philip Stewart and Peter Clarke. In the singles McElroy and Paul were joined by Sean David-
son.
In the triples Alan Paul. Mark Wilson and Dayne Jordan picked up a second win defeat-
ing Sean Davidson, Daniel Davidson and Brigid Davidson 11 - 5. The pairs was the only blem-
ish on Alan Paul's night as they lost 11 - 5 to Glen Wilson and Willie Lennox while Damian
McElroy and Johnnie Donnell defeated Mark Wilson and Dayne Jordan 9 - 4.
In the Ladies events, Shiela Anderson Maghera Pres qualified in the ladies singles with
an 11 - 6 win over Hazel Greer and in the pairs with Mildred Martin defeating Brigid Davidson
and Melissa Hanlon 7 - 6. The triples was won by Violet Reid, Hazel Greer and Muriel McCul-
loch who defeated Shiela Anderson, Leanne Bruce and Mildred Martin 8 - 2.
