It was a brilliant performance by the Norfolk triple who can be proud of a stunning display
and Chris Mann skipped the triple to perfection calling all the right shots as well as play- 17
ing some killer woods. Mann's triple won all their games in Group 4 before beating top
North Yorks triple Lee Toleman, Bronagh Toleman & Lawrence Moffat in the last 32 knock-out
stage. Victories against triples from Avon, Humberside and West Sussex followed as they
claimed their place in the final.
At one point it seemed like an all Norfolk final was on the cards until Steve Bridge, David
Lamb & Gary Best lost by just one shot to Steve Duffin’s North Yorks triple in the quarter-finals
after five straight wins had made them one of the favourites. Mike Smail, Bryan Preece & Tony
Ottewell went out at the last 32 stage losing 14-4 to Jody Frampton’s Kent triple. Janet Pinchen,
Terry Newby & Karl Newby lost all three games in their group and failed to qualify for the knock-
             out stages.

                 title in last match
             In recent years Hempnall have
tended to have run away with the
SNL title but this season it went to
the wire. Hempnall went into their
last match of the season at
Shropham sitting in third place and
needing seven points to go top
             and retain the title.
Any away match can present problems, but with Shropham at the foot of the South Norfolk
League table and having won only one game all season, this was the perfect venue to visit as
far as Hempnall were concerned. Hempnall named a strong line-up and any nerves were settled
early on as Colin Stevenson, Debbie Sparham & Jon Sparham won 21-9 and Bernie Cudden,
Joan Cann & Paul Baker won 26-4 as the first half went to plan for the visitors.
After the break Hempnall wrapped up the match, and the title, as Kerry Greenacre, Mick
Pearce & Neil Davidson stormed to a 35-1 win. Tim Stockwell, David Blundell & Gerald Chilvers
             completed a maximum 10-0 win with a 13-5 victory.
                                                                                  Halvergate retain

needed to win the title there was lit-
tle doubt of the final outcome but

to relax and start their celebrations
                                                                            early.
Jackie Smith, Jamie Forster & Ryan Fox opened with a 19-7 win. At just sixteen years of
age Ryan Fox has continued to make remarkable progress this season. The newly crowned
England National Under 18’s Champion is now a vital component in Halvergate’s success and
there seems no limit to what he can achieve in the sport.
With Donna Lamb, Ray Lamb & Jason Woods amassing a big 31-5 win on the other mat
Halvergate had achieved their objective and could relax and enjoy the moment. After the break
Kerry Greenacre, Mike Harvey & Keith Cooke won 18-12 and Mike Tate, Robbie Lamb & David
             Lamb won by 20-17.
