WHICH BOWLS
WHICH BOWLS
We all bowl with different bowls, different sizes and weights, so there is no totally exact science
but the above chart gives a great overview of the varying lines that different type of bowls run.
Colour is now making great strides in bowls and apparently smaller sizes are more popular that
they used to be. I currently bowl with size 5 Lignoid’s from the “Old” Master bowl and a number
of people have commented on them. I’m from the old school and even with small hands I stick
the rule that we should bowl with the biggest bowl we can handle with a cradle grip i.e. with fingers
on the lower part of a bowl and a thumb steading the side of a bowl. I do not recommend the claw
grip for short mat BUT if it ain’t broke don’t try to fix it.
SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT JACKS
SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT JACKS
This is the correct name for the 32oz/2lb jack most people bowls with these days. DRAKES
PRIDE have informed me that the on-going problems with oval jacks has now been resolved and
round jacks are now fully available.
