the final played in the International
Arena.
Potters Cup Winners Wymondham's Jack & Debbie The Wymondham triple
Barrett and Chris Mann with Potters Richard Beare found their rhythm quickly on the
opening end taking two shots with Debbie, Jack & Chris all looking in great form but Terry Cook
drew in a lovely lead bowl on to the jack on the second end to put Mann’s triple under pressure.
After Jack Barrett narrowly missed with an attacking wood Chris Mann opened up the head with
his first bowl and drew in with his last wood to take shot and a 3-0 lead. A great battle was devel-
oping between lead bowlers Terry Cook & Debbie Barrett who were both in great form.
Debbie Barrett drew in a nice opening bowl on the third end but it was bettered by a super
backhand by Terry Cook. Debbie Barrett then produced an even better wood to take shot but this
was immediately countered by Terry Cook who used pace to take the jack back.
Jack Barrett’s efforts failed to address the situation while Doreen Cook drew in another Suf-
folk bowl. It was left to Chris Mann to come up with two good woods to limit the damage to just
one shot. The next two ends saw Chris Mann’s triple take a stranglehold on the game. Another
great exchange between the lead bowlers kicked off the fourth end but an attacking wood by Jack
Barrett took shot before Doreen Cook replaced it. Jack Barrett attacked with his second wood but
narrowly missed and ran into the ditch. Barley semi-blocked the head but a tremendous backhand
bowl by Chris Mann ditched the jack to earn three shots and a 6-1 lead.
On the fifth end a perfect bowl by Jack Barrett sat on the jack with just the skips bowls to
come. Chris Mann’s first bowl fin-
ished in a good defending position
while Derek Barley’s first bowl went
wide.
Mann’s second bowl was a
good blocker which worked to per-
fection as Barley’s final wood was
deflected away and Wymondham
moved into an 8-1 lead. Derek Bar-
ley’s triple hit back with a
vengeance on the sixth end.
Yet again the lead bowlers
entertained spectators as they con-
tinued their great battle with four
excellent woods. This time it was
