bowling and Doreen Cook drew in a third for Suffolk. Chris Mann’s first wood cut them
down to just two and his second bowl opened up the head but failed to save the situation. 13
Derek Barley drew in his last wood to take four shots and cut the deficit to 8-5 with three
ends to play.
After a rare loose start to the seventh end Doreen Cook delivered two good woods but a
great forehand draw by Jack Barrett took shot. Barley’s first attempt to retrieve the situation saw
his bowl miss the head before Chris Mann drew in a near perfect backhand bowl. Barley took out
one Wymondham bowl when he attacked with his final wood but could not stop Mann’s triple pick-
ing up a four to lead 12-5 after seven ends.
Two great bowls by Terry Cook gave the Suffolk triple a glimmer of hope on the penultimate
end and Doreen Cook added another good third wood to keep their hopes alive. Mann cut them
down to two shots leaving his triple 12-7 up with an end remaining. The Wymondham triple then
finished in style taking four shots on the final end to win the Potters Cup Final by 16-7.
In the semi-finals Chris Mann’s triple recovered from 4-1 down to beat North Yorkshire’s Sheila
Loraine, Michael Ridge & David Loraine 8-4. Loraine’s triple had displayed excellent form on their
first Potters Cup appearance and impressed throughout. Derek Barley’s triple beat Wymondham’s
Hayley Stratton, Mikey George & Andrew Stratton by 10-6 to end the prospect of an all Wymond-
ham final. Stratton’s triple led 2-0 after
two ends but a full house by Barley’s
triple on the third end gave them a lead
they never relinquished. The Presenta-
tion Ceremony was conducted by Pot-
ters entertainer Richard Beare with
event co-organiser Teresa Goldsmith.

beaten David Varvel, Shirley Brown & Joe
Brown of Costessey by 10-6. Joe Brown’s
