            In a very close and exciting final, Douglas GAA opened up with a single but DCS replied          19
            with a two and two singles to lead 4 - 1. A single to the GAA was replied with a two by DCS
            to lead 6 - 2. The GAA fought back hard and with two singles were just 4 - 6 down with one end
            to but try as they might they could not score enough for victory or force a draw and had to settle
            for a narrow 5 - 6 defeat leaving Douglas Community School as the top dogs.
                  The prizes were presented by Danny Twohig the GAA Club Captain, who also presented
            the Perpetual Trophy to Tony McCarthy, the Skip of the winning team. The Umpires on duty for
            the final session were Eddie Bannon, John Curran, Hazel Foley, Eddie Mills, Seán O’Suilleabháin
            and Hazel Payne.
                  The Quarter-finals results were:-Douglas GAA (D. Twohig) beat Crosshaven (Robin Gre-
            gan, Grainne Murphy & Keith Middleton), Barrs (H. Livingston) beat Carrigtwohill (Mary Murphy,
            Nora Mulcahy & Denis Mulcahy), Carrigaline Community (V. Todd) beat Glounthaune (Rory Can-
            ning, Jim O’Brien & John Geary) and D.C.S. (T. McCarthy) beat Douglas GAA (Tim O’Neill, Betty
            Kenneally & Tony Kenneally)
                  It was also announced that the Cork Indoor Sports Association’s Sports Personality Award
            for Indoor Bowls went to Adrian Tanner, Conna Bowls Club, who will receive his Award later at
            the C.I.S.A. Dinner.

            The B.E.D.A. Short Mat Bowls Club staged the final session of their Annual licensed Triples
            Competition for the B.E.D.A. Perpetual Trophy in the Bandon Grammar School Complex.  The
            Competition was once again a great success with a large entry in action over the weekend and
            resulted in a victory for Barrs triple of Margo Murphy, Tim Healy & Ray Murphy, who defeated
            Mitchelstown’s Anita Selby, Hazel Foley & Hazel Payne in the final. The prizes were presented
            by Frank Buttimer, who also the Perpetual Trophy to Ray Murphy, the Skip of the winning team.
            The umpires on duty for the final session were Eddie Bannon, Sam Jennings & Albert Ruxton.
                  Competition Details - Quarter-finals:- Mitchelstown (H. Payne) beat Barrs (Norma Healy,
            Marie O’Reilly & Pat O’Reilly),  Barrs (R. Murphy) beat Carrigaline Community (Pat Collins, John
            Todd & Val Todd),  Crosshaven (Conor Middleton) beat Conna (Tom Finn, George Tanner &
            Adrian Tanner) and Cox’s Hall (J. Ellis) beat Sacred Heart (Mary murphy, Pauline Delaney & Tim
            Murphy).
                  Semi-finals:-  Mitchelstown (H. Payne) beat Cox’s Hall (Jean Kingston,  Valerie Jennings
            & John Ellis) and Barrs (R. Murphy) beat Crosshaven (Grainne Murphy, Keith Middleton & Conor
            Middleton).

            Bishopstown Bowls Club staged the final session of their inaugural licensed Triples Competition
            for the Bishopstown B.C.’s new  Perpetual Trophy, which was staged at Gaelscoil Uí Riada,
            Schol in Wilton, Cork. The Tournament was a great success with 93 teams and 279-players in
            action for the top prizes. At the Semi-final stage Crosshaven’s Mary Middleton, Grainne Murphy
            & Conor Middleton beat Watergrasshill’s David West, Majella Conlon & Liam Conlon. Also mak-
            ing it to the final Conna’s John Martin, George Tanner & Adrian Tan-
            ner  beat  “The  Hut”,  John  O’Connell,  Dean  Foley  &  Annette
            O’Connell.
                  In the final Conna struck first with a two and a single but
            Crosshaven struck back with a two and a three to lead 5 - 3 but at
            this point they came unstuck with Conna scoring a stunning five to
            lead 8 - 5. They followed this up with a single, a two and a last end
            single to win 12 - 5
                  The prizes were presented by Marie Barry the Competition
            Secretary, with Carmel Eadie the Honorary Secretary presenting
            the Perpetual Trophy to the winning skip Adrian Tanner. The Um-          Michael O’Shaughnessy
            pires on duty for the final session were Mary Boyde, Hazel Foley,
