                                      COX’S HALL TRIUMPH
                                      Barrs Bowls Club staged the final session of their annual licensed
                                      triples competition for the Barrs Perpetual Trophy and held in the St.
                                      Finbarr’ Hurling & Football Pavilion. The Tournament was once again
                                      a great success with a large entry in action over the six days of the
                                      event. At the semi-final stage, Iona’s Martha Cahill, Phyllis Healy & Tom
                                      Cahill beat Crosshaven’s Mary Middleton, Keith Middleton & Conor Mid-
                                      dleton. In the other semi-final Jean Kingston, Elizabeth Jennings & Sam
                                      Jennings of Cox’s Hall from West Cork got the better of Sacred Heart’s
            Mary Murphy, Pauline Delaney & Tim Murphy.
                  The final resulted in a victory for Cox’s Hall (West Cork) who defeated Iona in a close and
            very exciting final. Iona opened with a two but Cox’s struck back with a two of their own only for
            Iona to do the same to lead 4 - 2.  Cox’s Hall then scored a three and a two to lead 7 - 4. Back
            came Iona with two two’s to lead 8 - 7. Cox’s Hall then took the last two ends with a two and a
            single to win 10 - 8.
                  The prizes were presented by John Long the Club Captain, who also presented the Barrs
            Perpetual Trophy to Sam Jennings the Skip of the winning team. The final was umpired by Pat
            Collins and Hazel Foley.
                  Quarter finals results:- Sacred Heart (T. Murphy) beat Douglas GAA (Tim O’Neill, Betty
            Kenneally & Tony Kenneally), Cox’s Hall (S. Jennings) beat Conna (Catherine O’Regan, Michael
            O’Regan & Derrick Feeney), Crosshaven (Conor Middleton) beat Iona (May Froggatt, Betty Car-
            roll & Mercy Lynch) & Iona (T. Cahill) beat Carrigaline GAA (Marie McCarthy, Tony Desmond &
            John Noonan).

            The I.C.I.C.Y.M.A. Bowling Club staged the final session of their annual licensed Triples com-
            petition for their Perpetual Trophy at the Garryduff Sports Centre, Rochestown, Co. Cork.   The
            Tournament was once again a great success with 91-teams in action over the five days of the
            competition.
                  At the semi-final stage Norma Kelleher, Tony & Betty Kenneally from Douglas GAA got the
            better of Mahon, represented by K. Buckley, Jo O’Mahony & Miah Buckley.  In the other semi
            Douglas Community School’s Sheila O’Driscoll, Mary Boland & John O’Driscoll edged past
            Glounthaune’s R. Canning, J. O’Brien & J. Geary. The final was a tight affair but ended with
            Douglas GAA scoring an 8 - 4 victory over Douglas Community School.
                  The Umpires on duty for the final session were Eddie Bannon, Martin Bracken, Dick Dowl-
            ing, Jack Russell & Betty Shellard. The prizes were presented to the winners by Ms Diane Fehilly
            of the Management Committee who also presented the I.C.I.C.Y.M.A. Perpetual Shield to Betty
            Kenneally, the Skip of the winning team.

            dan & S. O’Riordan), D.C.S. (J. O’Driscoll) beat Midleton (P. White, K. Savage & T. O’Keeffe),
            Mahon (M. Buckley) beat Grange/Frankfield (S. Breen, P. Long & J. Long) and Douglas GAA
            (B. Kenneally) beat Watergrasshill (K. O’Mahony, M. Conlon & L. Conlon)

            The Douglas G.A.A. Bowls Club staged their annual licensed Triples competition for the Douglas
            Credit Union Perpetual Trophy, which concluded with the final session at the GAA. With 108
            teams competing for the top prizes the Tournament was once again a great success and at-
            tracted teams from all the leading clubs in the Cork Zone.
                  After defeat in the I.C.I.C.Y.M.A. tournament Douglas Community School managed to re-
            verse the result against Douglas G.A.A. on their home mat, albeit with different players in their
            triples. In the semi-finals, Douglas GAA’s Ann Twohig, Aidan Delea & Danny Twohig beat the
            Barrs triple of Stella Livingston, Pat Lynch & Hugh Livingston. Douglas Community School’s
            Clare Cremen, Gerry Allen & Tony McCarthy progressed to the final at the expense of beat Car-
            rigaline Communities Pat Collins, John Todd & Val Todd.
