18 Why Verdemat Bowls Carpets are Top of the Pile!
For nearly 20 years Verdemat Bowls Ltd
together with their parent company Dales
Sports Surfaces Ltd have been produc-
ing top quality short mat, portable and
carpet bowls mats and sports surfacing.
Our former principal and greatly
missed boss Dickie Dales, a very expe-
rienced carpenter joiner, was asked if he
could make a level wooden bowling floor,
he said yes and as they say the rest is
history.
From that first simple enquiry has
grown two very successful UK based
companies employing highly skilled
workers producing not just market lead-
ing but world leading products.
With our extensive range of sur-
faces we are confident we will have
something to offer every requirement, for
indoor or outdoor use, for the home mar-
ket and the international community. As
well as producing the standard sizes of
carpet we are also able to offer a be-
spoke service, making us the world’s
leading manufacturer and supplier of bowls surfaces.
By far the oldest and most respected surface in our short mat and carpet bowls range is
the Wygreen Original. It has been in continual production since the 1940’s and from early 2003
when we brought production to our Lincolnshire workshop we have produced over 10,000 car-
pets. It is the number one best seller in Ireland as well as being incredibly popular throughout
the UK. We have known some short mat clubs to have been using their Wygreen mats for over
20 years such is their durability.
However, if a club wishes for a lighter weight mat with a faster pace we have the Wygreen
Light. We have married the respected problem free Wygreen top cloth with the lightweight yet
durable grey foam we also use for our Verdemat fast pace to make a winning combination.
Clubs that have tried the Wygreen Light have been very complimentary and are especially happy
with its consistent performance and lightweight manoeuvrability. It has proved so popular it is
now the exclusive choice of the English short Mat Bowls Association and the World Short Mat
Bowls Tour Ltd.
Another well-liked and admired carpet from our
range is the Clubgreen Premier. It has a flat needle
punched green felt bonded on to a green latex back-
ing. Then an additional layer of black felt is applied to
the backing of the mat in our own workshops giving
extra protection and also to slow the pace of the car-
pet.
As with all our carpets standard sizes are: 40ft x
6ft up to 45ft x 6ft but bespoke sizes can be made to
request. All our carpets are supplied marked out with
white tape and come complete with a fire wrapper
making them comply to fire regulations relevant to vil-
lage halls, schools, leisure centres etc.
