Standards of Practice

 Contracts

 A contract was required, except:
 An emergency when services are required and no time before
conducting the services (one should be executed ASAP);
 Services for an attorney;
 Services for another licensed PI; or
 Services for an insurance company.
 A contract, letter of engagement, fee schedule or other
documentation of the assignment is recommended. For
continuing clients, an annual disclosure or case specific.

It is strongly recommended developing these
as your agency Standards of Practice as
professional and client protections.

PPIAC has a contract template available to members
 What is recommended to be included:
 Date of contract;
 Parties to the contract;
 Description of services;
 Fees for services;
 How and when contract terminates or may be terminated;
 Statement the client is entitled to both a written and oral report; and
 Number of days the client must be provided the report.
 A copy must be provided to the client.
 One contract may cover multiple services to one client.
It is strongly recommended developing these
as your agency Standards of Practice as
professional and client protections.
