Introduction













                           Different peoples have contributed to the

                    development of the Jamaican cuisine. There are a lot of


                    items at which the Arawaks/Tainos, The Spanish, The British,

                    The Africans(people who were brought as slaves, The
                    Chinese, The Syrians, The Jews ,The Lebanese, The North

                    Americans; among others have contributed. With this, they

                    have brought their own style of cooking which generations
                    have adopted. Though modern technology has influenced

                    meal preparations, it has not made any distinct changes to

                    the taste of the meals as compared to previously used

                    tools- coal stoves, wood fire and brick oven. Some aspects

                    of the Jamaican food are the use of seasonings, spices,
                    and coconut (grated or processed as milk cream or oil).
