Introduction
Different peoples have contributed to the
development of the Jamaican cuisine. There are a lot of
items at which the Arawaks/Tainos, The Spanish, The British,
The Africans(people who were brought as slaves, The
Chinese, The Syrians, The Jews ,The Lebanese, The North
Americans; among others have contributed. With this, they
have brought their own style of cooking which generations
have adopted. Though modern technology has influenced
meal preparations, it has not made any distinct changes to
the taste of the meals as compared to previously used
tools- coal stoves, wood fire and brick oven. Some aspects
of the Jamaican food are the use of seasonings, spices,
and coconut (grated or processed as milk cream or oil).
