Callaloo
This plant is widely known
throughout the Caribbean.
Often referred to as the
“water spinach” outside the
region.
In Jamaica It is often
combined with salt fish and
eaten with roasted
breadfruit and dumplings
and it is a popular breakfast
dish.

Yam
Yams are vital part of the
Jamaican diet; contributing a
rich source of carbohydrates.
Several types of yams are
grown in Jamaica: white yam,
Indian yam, Sweet yam,
yellow yam; among others.
They can be boiled, fried,
gated into making delicious
pies and puddings.
