Ackee
The national fruit of
Jamaica which is often
enjoyed with saltfish
(together makes the
national dish of Jamica).
A common name for
Ackee is Akye fofo which
is used in West Africa.
Once ripe, it becomes
red; the fruit contains
poisonous substances that
will harm if forced open
and used before it is ripe.

Avocado
This fruit –Avocado is
commonly referred to as
‘pears’ in the Caribbean.
Apart of the facts and oil
group, avocado contains
numerous health benefits.
During its season it is often
accompanied with a meal,
eaten any time of the day.
It is popularly enjoyed as a
snack ‘Bulla and Pear’
