Mission
The mission of the Outreach Committee is to develop and implement sustained outreach to local
and specialty bars throughout the state and to increase awareness of the member services and
benefits provided by the LSBA. The committee shall encourage member participation in all aspects
of the LSBA, and shall facilitate such participation through the use of technology and any other
feasible alternatives.
A resolution was presented to the House of Delegates on January 16, 2016 and approved the
Outreach Committee as a LSBA standing committee.
The next meeting of the Outreach Committee will be held on August 21, 2020.
The Outreach Committee is working with the LSBA Editorial Board for the Louisiana Bar Journal
to promote member benefits by interviewing different LSBA members that utilize the benefits.
The first article on hotel benefits was published in the August/September 2017 LA Bar Journal.
This remains a goal of the committee.
Citizen Lawyer Award
The goal is for a minimum of three recipients to be selected from each Board of Governor Districts
(eight board districts).
The Citizen Lawyer Award recognizes individual attorneys and judges who have performed public
services out of a sense of duty, responsibility and professionalism. The LSBA wishes to
acknowledge these unsung heroes and heroines in the communities where they live and work.
Nomination period: April – June
The Awards subcommittee met on August 16, 2019. The Outreach Committee met to approve the
awards recommendation on October 4, 2019. The Board of Governors approved the
recommendation on November 2, 2019.
The recipients were awarded at the LSBA Midyear Meeting on January 18, 2020.
