Marching Band
By Veronica
Clemmons
Marching band is enjoyable, to a certain degree
It is one of the better classes for me
The people and the music can be quite fun
But marching band is not for everyone
The practices outside of school
No matter the weather, hot or cool
The repetition for hours on end
Stamina and patience are your best friends
The music, with all of its harmony and chords
In competitions, one can hardly afford
To mess up or fail to put in the effort
Practice and perfect it, for the sake of Mr. Everts
The drills, with the intricate shapes and lines
It can be difficult to keep form and stay on time
Everything has to be very precise
No sooner or later or it won’t look nice
If just one person is out of line
It will hinder the quality of the design
On the bright side, the students are great
There’s not much drama, not much hate
Most kids have been nice to me
The band is like a family
Our band director is okay
He keeps most kids from going astray
All in all, I like the band
It’s interesting and seldom bland
