Greetings Fellow D9 Members!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season!
It’s hard to believe that the 2019 ARBA Convention is al-
ready history. I hope everyone that attended
Reno had a fantastic time. Huge congratulations to all the
winners! In open the big winners were Doug
King with Best of Breed and BEST OF GROUP and Dae
Lycos/Ryan Harrah with Best of Opposite! The
Youth winners were Alex Kindseth with Best of Breed and
Breanna Sullivan with Best of Opposite Sex.
Congratulations all around! Mini Rex rule :)
The next big event for our breed is the 2020 National Mini
Rex Show in Belton, Texas. The dates are April
17th through the 19th. I hope everyone is making plans to
attend!!
Mini Rex numbers throughout the district have been
good! The Youth numbers in particular have been
steadily increasing.
We were asked to give our input on ideal type and fur for
Mini Rex. I put particular emphasis on balance
of both; especially type. I like to see a well balanced ani-
mal and body type always comes first for me. A
pet peeve has been consistently hearing judges pick on
“finish”. I am much more interested in correct
length of coat, good density, and proper texture. Every-
one interprets the standard differently and that is
one of the fun parts of raising and showing rabbits.
I think that is all for now. Please feel free to send in pho-
tos or news to be included in my report. I am
also always available to help out with any questions or
concerns.
I look forward to seeing everyone in 2020!! Keep those
nest boxes full.
Cheers,
Piper
