Distinguished Service Award 2015 recipient remembered
for his significant contributions

earning designation as a STEMI Receiving Center and a
Level III Trauma Center. Additionally, Dr. Bailey’s inspired
leadership was crucial in obtaining the Stanford affiliation
for Marian’s Neuroscience and Stroke Program and
developing the curriculum for the Marian Family Medicine
Residency Program.
Dr. Bailey received the Distinguished Service Award at
the Annual Dinner in August of 2015 where more than 400
attendees gave the longtime physician leader a standing
ovation for his legacy of faithful service. In his moving
acceptance speech, Dr. Bailey reminded attendees of the
hospital’s mission and expressed his inspiration stating,
“The medical care at Marian is so wonderful because of
the great team that is in place. It’s the more than 1,000
people that come to work every day to make Marian a
better place. All of these people have unique gifts, each
bringing something special. The beauty of this is that at

It is with great sadness that we share, just four months
after receiving the Marian Distinguished Service Award,
Dr. Bailey passed away on December 20, 2015, after a
courageous battle with cancer. For those at Marian who
mourn the loss of Dr. Bailey, we remember him as more
than just a physician–he was our colleague, mentor, friend,
and an influential Marian family member.
Throughout his tenure of more than 25 years, Dr. Bailey
was most notably recognized for his leadership as the
medical director of the Marian Regional Medical Center
Emergency Physicians Medical Group. In addition to
this title, Dr. Bailey also served in a multitude of diverse
leadership roles and was instrumental in the advancement
of safety and quality at Marian. In fact, his professional Dr. Bailey treats a young patient in 2007.
