KEENAN RODARTE
Paying forward the gift of kindness
Fifteen years ago, Marian Regional Medical Center Emergency
Department Technician Keenan Rodarte and his young family
of four were in disbelief as they learned that their youngest
child, Izzi, was in need of emergency neurosurgery. With a
$10,000 deductible Keenan and his family were experiencing
difficulty as they struggled to make rent, pay bills, and keep up
on medical copayments.
Knowing Keenan and his family were in need of help, a
coworker told Keenan about Marian’s Friendship Fund, an em-
ployee assistance fund for employees experiencing hardship.
That same day, Keenan filled out a Friendship Fund request
and soon after received a $500 assistance check.
“The support I received from the Friendship Fund came at a
time in my life when my family and I truly needed it,” states
Keenan. “After being the recipient of others’ amazing gener- Keenan Rodarte plays with his daughter, Izzi, at the beach following

years later, I continue to donate to Marian because in my time
of need, the Marian family stepped up and was able to help me.”
