3.2.2) One thing that I noticed about term one work is that it is preparation to what they
will need in the second term. If learners do not understand a concept in the first term
especially when they are solving basic functions such as exponential laws and functions
it will be very difficult for them to understand polynomial functions because the concepts
are similar and only differ in small concepts. As teacher there are different methods that
I can make use of to ensure that learners fully understand the concepts that they have
been taught such a peer learning and cooperation.
3.2.3) Learners usually start with functions in grade 10 and 11 as such they have a basic
understanding of most of the concepts in functions which is what I could use as an
opportunity to cover it without going into too much detail as the CAPS document clearly
state that this is revision. I will revise grade 8 concepts when the learners started with line
graphs and show them using simple straight lines how they could either find the domain
or range. Once we have completed defining functions we will move to more abstract
things such as finding the inverse. As a teacher I would also see it as an opportunity that
I had explained inverses before and touch up on it when I explain exponential graphs to
them. Most of the content which learners will be completing is mainly based on something
that they have done before that would be my biggest opportunity that I could use.
