When and How Do I Enroll?
Open enrollment will be conducted May 8 - 17,
2019. This year we are pleased to announce that
we will continue our partnership with United
Healthcare for medical, Cigna for dental and
Eyemed for vision.
You can also refer to the Benefits Enrollment
video for explanation of how the plans work.
Tobacco User Affidavit
You are only eligible for the lower non-tobacco user
medical plan rate after you certify that you have been
tobacco-free during the prior 12 months or have
successfully completed the six- month Quit For Life
Smoking Cessation program.
Changing Coverage During the Year
You can change your coverage during the year
only when you experience a qualified change in
status, such as marriage, divorce, birth,
adoption, placement for adoption, or loss of
coverage. The change must be reported to the
Human Resources Department within 30 days of
the event. The change must be consistent with
the event.
Spousal Surcharge (Applied to Medical Only)
Employees who enroll their spouse or same-sex domestic
partner in a TNJH medical plan will be required to pay a
spousal surcharge of $450 per month if the spouse or same-
sex domestic partner has access to medical insurance with his
or her own employer. If the spouse or same-sex domestic
partner is enrolled in his or her employer’s medical plan and is
also enrolled in a TNJH medical plan, the spousal surcharge is
$100 per month.
