Boating Knots: Hitches

This knot works extremely well for
attaching cords to the handles of tools, or
anything else of similar design, to allow
them to be hung. It can be used to attach
                     a pencil to a clipboard.
The final tuck in tying the double
constrictor can be made as a quick-release
draw loop if you want to untie the knot
later. For the very best results, use a hard
rope or cord when tying the knot to soft
material, such as a soft line, and use a soft
rope or cord when tying the knot to hard
                     material, such a metal ring.
