In 1999 he was appointed Director of
Fetal Medicine at St George’s Hospital, a
position he holds until today. His experi-
ence earned him the invitation to become
a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetri-
cians and Gynaecologists (FRCOG) in 2007
and an Honorary Doctorate (PhD) from
Uppsala University in the same year.
Basky Thilaganathan was appointed
in 2008 as Professor of Fetal Medicine at
St George’s, University of London. In 2010
was nominated Editor-in-chief of the
medical journal Ultrasound in Obstetrics
and Gynecology and, since 2015, is the
Obstetric representative of the Fetal, Ma-
ternal and Child Health Sub-committee of
the UK National Screening Committee.
In March 2020, Professor Thilagana-
than took on the role of Clinical Director
of the Tommy's National Centre for Mater-
