CHAPTER SIX

                                     DESTINATION FITNESS: NEXT EXIT

Now that I had a vision, a plan and strategy, it was time for implementation. I had put on
somewhere between 15-20 lbs. since COVID started, and I had neither the energy nor the self-
sustainable enthusiasm to initiate this new journey and certainly not to continue it. Sure, the epiphany
in the car got me fired up to move ahead with these changes I needed to make, but how long could I
               expect it to last?

Unfortunately, I am not genetically blessed with the ability, like some, to effortlessly lose
weight that I put on and achieve a satisfactory (to me) physique. The truth of the matter is, I inherited
the fat boy gene if ever there was one and maintaining my weight over the years has never been easy.
There have been moments in time when I was satisfied with my weight and my overall appearance,
but as I got older, that became harder and harder to maintain. Nothing new there right? Not to
mention, I had my first child at age 37 and my last one at age 40, and this made my daily routine even
more challenging to maintain. With all those factors existing, I knew that a strategy was necessary and
that more than willpower would be needed for me to get where I wanted to be--the healthiest and
               fittest version of myself.
