ANGELS IN THE COMMUNITY
Bank of America Challenger
The Angels Baseball Foundation teamed up with Bank
of America to host the 13th annual Bank of America
Orange County Little League® Challenger Classic. With
help from Angels players, coaches and alumni, more than
900 children, most of whom are living with physical and
mental challenges, received the chance to play baseball
on the field at Angel Stadium. The 2018 classic hosted the
third annual Fall Festival Recourse Fair. Halloween candy
was distributed by 15 non-profit organizations, who were
on hand to share potential resources with participants
and their families.
Readers in the Outfield
In a collaborative effort to promote the importance of literacy, the Angels Baseball Foundation and
the Literacy Project Foundation team up to create the “Readers in the Outfield” program. In 2018,
over 100 second graders and their Master Teachers of Literacy showed off their literacy skills by
playing interactive games with Angels legends Chuck Finley, Clyde Wright, and Bobby Grich.
ACT Anaheim
Since 2013, three of Anaheim’s largest businesses joined forces to help improve the lives of young
under the halo
people in Anaheim. Accelerate Change Together for Anaheim, or ACT Anaheim, is a collaborative
effort by Disneyland Resort, the Anaheim Ducks and Angels Baseball aimed at providing funding for
organizations that focus on addressing the needs of Anaheim’s youth. Angels Baseball has donated
over $1 million dollars to the program and the partnership will continue through 2019.
Angels Baseball Foundation Children’s Holiday Party
Each year the Angels Baseball Foundation aims to make
the holiday season brighter for nearly 200 underprivileged
kids by hosting a Holiday Party for non-profit organizations
in the Southern California area. In 2018, the Angels held
the event at Angel Stadium. The kids asked questions to
current and former Angels players and coaches. Also,
they got enjoy holiday crafts and play games on the field.
Magical Builders’ Jamma Jingles program joined the party
for their ninth year providing a new pair of pajamas to
every child in attendance. At the end of the night, each
child received a toy from Santa, a pair of pajamas, and
warm holiday wishes from the Angels.
Angels Scholars
Over the last three years, the Angels Baseball Foundation has awarded four-year
scholarships to 39 outstanding high school seniors. Scholars are selected based on
academic achievements, financial need, community involvement, and the desire to
achieve a higher education. Funding is awarded for a maximum of four years, with the expectation that
a bachelor’s degree will be obtained
during this period. The Angels Baseball
Foundation takes the time to assess
the individual needs of each student
once other scholarships and grants
have been applied. The Foundation
strives to build positive and supportive
relationships with the scholars in order
to help them develop skills that allow
them to achieve their career and long-
term goals.
