ABOUT US
Who We Are
Incorporated as a Private Non-Profit Corporation in
January 1985, Southern Maryland Vocational
Industries, Inc., doing business as EPIC
(Empowering People with Intellectual Challenges)
was founded in response to the realization of a
group of parents that their children with disabilities
would not have services or support from the State of
Maryland, once their child graduated from special
education classes. These parents banded together
to devise a program that would enable their children
and other unserved children to become gainfully
employed adults. EPIC was.
EPIC pushes its mission through a team of more
than 200 trained staff who have relevant experience
for supporting people with a variety of needs. EPIC
provides supports to people in their day-to-day lives
through services related to employment, housing,
and in-home supports.
Mission
Our mission is to empower adults with intellectual
challenges to maximize their independence.
Vision
The team at EPIC follows through on our mission
each day as we encourage the community at large
to assist in spreading our vision that every individual,
regardless of disability, should live a respectful and
fulfilling life.
