How We Communicate
1. Describe your employee benefits communication philosophy.
Burnham recognizes that benefits must be understood and appreciated by employees before
they can produce any return on investment. We also know that the process of educating and
enrolling employees must be efficient.
Simply, we listen and observe. We directly ask our clients about their culture and how all levels
within their organization interact and prefer communication. We also find out what their goals
are so we can align their benefit plans with these philosophies. This develops a strong synergy
between our teams and ensures success. When we understand our clients’ culture, it influences
the way we approach solutions for them.
Communications is a core aspect of our philosophy, included as part of our standard services.
Burnham’s Communications Consultative Checklist contains a myriad of our custom
communications capabilities.
See Appendix for “Communications Consulting Checklist”
For example, specifically with clients like Bird, we seek to communicate with BirdFam in a very
straightforward format, scraping away the corporate mumbo jumbo and saying what we mean.
We strive to be valuable, concise, direct, and sprinkle in a little fun where we can. We find ways
around the conventional confines of insurance and make things easy to understand. We also
prefer action over process and bureaucracy. It’s important always to find a creative solution to
make sure each BirdFam walks away with results, feeling supported and knowledgeable about
the information we provide. Also, we are always looking for ways to improve the experience
when it comes to anything benefits related.
We get to know our clients by building strong relationships and trust. We want to make sure
those we work with know how much we value their partnership.
