Director
UKM Medical Molecular Biology Institute (UMBI)
On behalf of the organising committee, the UKM
Medical Molecular Biology Institute (UMBI), in
collaboration with the Malaysian Society of Public
Health Physicians’ (PPPKAM), we are pleased to
welcome you to the 1st Regional Conference on
Precision Health 2026 (RCPH 2026). We are
honoured to bring together researchers, clinicians,
policymakers and industry partners united in Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nor Azian Abd Murad
advancing precision health through innovation and Director, UMBI UKM
collaboration in Malaysia.
UMBI is committed to advancing molecular and genomic research that translates into meaningful
health outcomes. Precision medicine integrates genomic, environmental, and lifestyle data to better
understand disease risk, progression, and treatment response. This moves beyond a “one-size-fits-
all” approach toward more predictive, preventive and personalised care that improves patient
outcomes and healthcare efficiency.
Malaysia’s rich ethnic and genetic diversity provides unique opportunities to study gene–
environment interactions and disease susceptibility. The rising burden of non-communicable
diseases underscores the need for targeted, effective healthcare strategies. While encouraging
progress has been made in genomics, molecular diagnostics, and biobanking through multi-sector
collaboration, continued efforts are required to strengthen implementation, enhance data integration
and ensure equitable access.
RCPH 2026 serves as a platform where science, policy, and clinical practice converge, integrating
Precision Medicine with Precision Public Health, which emphasises large-scale implementation
through data governance, health economics, and equitable policies. The conference fosters
knowledge exchange, interdisciplinary collaboration, and strategic partnerships. It also marks the
launch of the Malaysian Pangenome initiative, which will generate genomic reference data to
advance disease prevention, diagnostics, and therapeutics for Malaysia’s diverse population.
We sincerely thank all organisers, partners, sponsors, speakers, and participants for making this
conference possible and wish you a productive and inspiring meeting.
Thank you, and I wish everyone a productive and inspiring conference.
