Organising Chairman
1 Regional Conference on Precision Health 2026
st
On behalf of the organising committee, it is my great
pleasure to welcome all participants to the 1st Regional
Conference on Precision Health 2026.
The UKM Medical Molecular Biology Institute (UMBI),
in collaboration with the Malaysian Society of Public
Health Physicians’ (PPPKAM), is honoured to host this
inaugural regional conference, which brings Precision Professor Datuk Dr. A Rahman A Jamal
Medicine and Precision Public Health together on
one platform. (FASc, MD, MRCP, PhD, GDHM)
Our purpose is both clear and urgent: to translate scientific advances and research excellence into
equitable, real-world impact for communities across the Asia Pacific region.
This conference will feature two focused tracks. The Precision Medicine track explores genomics,
pharmacogenomics, cancer and rare diseases, polygenic risk scores and non-communicable
diseases (NCDs), induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), microbiome research, spatial sequencing,
and familial hypercholesterolaemia. The Precision Public Health track addresses health economics,
data infrastructure and governance, artificial intelligence and analytics, ethics and equity, community
engagement, and implementation strategies in low- and middle-income countries settings.
Through the keynote lecture, plenary sessions, symposia, meet-the-experts engagements, and
collaboration sessions, participants will have the opportunity to learn from and interact with leading
speakers from across the Asia Pacific region. The conference is intended for a wide and diverse
audience, including clinicians, scientists, researchers, data scientists, public health specialists,
policymakers, payers, and trainees.
In addition to the academic content, the conference places strong emphasis on meaningful
networking and partnership building. Institutional matchmaking and regional project huddles are
designed to encourage collaboration among hospitals, ministries, academic institutions, and
industry partners. A major highlight of the conference will be the unveiling of the Malaysian
Pangenome, a reference genome database, that will provide the foundational genomic data for
next-generation diagnostics, prevention strategies, and therapeutic innovations.
We hope that participants will leave with fresh insights into how precision care and population-level
strategies can be implemented ethically, affordably, and at scale. More importantly, we hope this
conference will catalyse lasting partnerships and collective action to advance precision health
throughout the region.
We warmly welcome you to this landmark gathering and thank you for being part of this important
journey.
