An alert allows you to be notified through either e-mail or a text message when- ever changes are made to the file. You can set up alerts to:
» Cover any changes to any file.
» Cover any changes to a single file.
» Cover any changes to any file you have created.
» Cover any changes to any file that you were the last to modify.
A SharePoint library has a number of rich content-management features, such as check-in and check-out, versioning, security, and workflow. Learn more about SharePoint content management features in Chapter 5.
SharePoint has a specialized library for managing rich media files, such as images, video, and audio files. You can create one of these media libraries by selecting the Asset Library template on the Your Apps page, as shown in Figure 6-7.
Microsoft also refers to SharePoint lists and libraries as apps. You can access the Your Apps page by clicking the gear icon in the upper right corner, then selecting Add an app.
