A cool feature when using Outlook on your iPhone or Android phone is the swipe feature. When you look at your email on your phone, you can just swipe an email message left or right to perform an action such as archive. You can configure what swiping a message off to the right or swiping a message off to the left does. For example, you may want to move an email out of your Inbox and into another folder when you swipe left, and delete an email when you swipe right. When you get the hang of it, swiping messages left or right lets you empty your Inbox in no time!
In addition to anywhere access, some powerful productivity features come along with Outlook. For example, you can view all those messages about the same topic in a single email thread known as a conversation. You can also quickly set up a meeting with those involved in the topic of the email with a few clicks of the mouse.
Microsoft Teams is closely integrated with Exchange Online and provides even more communication and productivity saving options such as instant chats, voice and video calls, and screen sharing.
You can also include a number of add-ins to Outlook to solve particular needs. For example, one that we use all the time is called Grammarly. It is a form of artificial intelligence that checks your spelling and grammar as you compose messages and offers suggestions. Did we mention we really love artificial intelligence?
Efficient collaboration
Anyone who works with email on a daily basis has experienced the scenario where an email thread goes on and on, and on some more. People are added to the thread, and those people add more people to the thread. At some point, it would be much easier to just set up a meeting and discuss everything in person. With Outlook and Exchange Online, you can do this with directly from Outlook, as shown in Figure 3-3.
